Best answer

1. sp2 hybridisation in boron trifluoride – Boron atom – B. Electronic configuration [H2]2s2p2 .

2. In boron, the s orbital and two p orbitals in the valence shell hybridises to generate three equivalent sp2 orbitals. These 3 orbitaIs lie in the same xy plane and the angle between any two orbitals is equal to 120°.

3. The 3 sp2 hybridised orbitals of boron now overlap with the 2pz orbitais of fluorine (3 atoms). This overlap takes place along the axis.
