Best answer

(a) The additive inverse of 3 is –3.

So, – 4 – 3 = – 4 + (–3) = – (4 + 3) = –7

(b) The additive inverse of –3 is + 3.

So, – 4 – (–3) = – 4 + (+3) = –1
