What if we use thin metal plates in meter bridge?

The potential reaching to both wire would be the same, so the ratio of potential distributed across series resistance will be same .

And thus the point (at wire) where zero deflection shown by galvanometer will be same .

I known that it is used to decrease resistance .

But my question that if we use thick plats or thin plates the value we will be remain same or will change with thin plates.

Thank you
