 We have P(3, a) and Q(4, 1)

Here,

x1 = 3, y1 =a

x2 = 4, y2 = 1

Squaring both sides

10 = 2 +a2 - 2a

a2 - 2a + 2 - 10 = 0

a2 - 2a - 8 = 0

Splitting the middle team.

a2- 4a + 2a - 8 = 0

a(a-4) + 2(a-4) = 0

(a-4)(a+2) = 0

a = 4, a = -2
