Best answer

The law of conservation of momentum is not violated by stopping vehicles on applying brakes. Some retarding force is being applied due to brakes and the vehicles comes to rest such that the total loss of its momentum is equal to the impulse of the applied force. Thus the law of conservation of momentum is not violated.
