1. In-situ: Protect the whole ecosystem, its biodiversity at all levels.

Eg: Biosphere reserve, national park, sanctuaries, etc.

2. Ex-situ: it is the strategy to protect threatened and endangered species which needs urgent measures to save it from extinction.

Eg: zoo, botanical garden, seed bank, etc.
