(i) 9/16, 7/12, 1/4

L.C.M. of the denominator 16, 12, 4 = 48

∴ 9/16 = 9 × 3/16 × 3 = 27/48 ; 7/12 = 7 × 4/12 × 4 = 28/48

1/4 = 1 × 12/4 × 12 = 12/48

Arranging in ascending order,

12/48,  27/48,  28/48

i.e. 1/4, 9/16, 7/12

(ii) 5/6, 2/7, 8/9, 1/3

L.C.M. of the denominator 6, 7, 9, 3 = 126

= 3 × 2 × 7 × 3 = 126

∴ 5/6 = 5 × 21/6 × 21 = 105/126 ; 2/7 = 2 × 18/7 × 18 = 36/126

8/9 = 8 × 14/9 × 14 = 112/126 ;

1/3 = 1 × 42/3 × 42 = 42/126

Arranging in ascending order,

36/126, 42/126, 105/126, 112/126

i.e. 2/7, 1/3, 5/6, 8/9

(iii) 2/3, 5/9, 5/6, 3/8

L.C.M. of the denominator 3, 9, 6, 8 = 72

= 2 × 3 × 3 × 4 = 72

∴ 2/3 = 2 × 24/3 × 24 = 48/72 ; 5/9 = 5 × 8/9 × 8 = 40/72

5/6 = 5 × 12/6× 12 = 60/72 ; 3/8 = 3 × 9/8 × 9 = 27/72

Arranging in ascending order,

27/72, 40/72, 48/72, 60/72

i.e. 3/8, 5/9, 2/3, 5/6
