A 44 mH inductor is connected to 220V, 50 Hz ac supply. Determine the rms value of the current in the circuit.

Given L = 44 mH = 44 × 10-3 H

Ev = 220V, ν = 50Hz, Iv = ?

Since Iv = \(\frac{E_v}{xL}\) = \(\frac{220}{wL}\)

∴ Iv = \(\frac{220}{2\pi vL}=\frac{220}{2\times3.142\times50\times44\times10^{-3}}\)

or  I= 15.9A
