The refraction of light travelling from glass to water is shown in the figure.

1. The snells law in the above case can be written as……

(i) sin i = \(\frac{n_w}{n_g}\)

(ii) \(\frac{1}{sin\,i}=\frac{n_w}{n_g}\)

(iii) sin i = \(\frac{n_g}{n_w}\)

2. Show that c = sin-1(gnw) . Where C is the critical angle of glass water interface.

3. Three light rays, (Red, blue and yellow) incident at one side and its refractions are shown in the figure. Copy the figure and mark Red, blue and yellow in the figure.

Best answer

1. \(\frac{n_w}{n_g}=\frac{sin\,x}{sin\,90°}\) ,\(\frac{n_w}{n_g}\) = sin i

2. In this i = c using snell law, we can write

\(\frac{n_w}{n_g} \frac{sin\,c}{sin\,90°}\), sin c = \(\frac{n_w}{n_g}\), C = \(sin^{-1}\Big(\frac{n_w}{n_g}\Big)\)
