  • Bakelite is the condensation polymer of phenol and formaldehyde. 
  • It is used for the manufacture of electrical plugs and switches.
  • Bakelite contains cross linked molecules which on heating undergo extensive cross linking in moulds and again become in fusible. It cannot be reused. Hence, it is a thermo setting ploymer.
