Best answer

x/2 - 1/5 = x /3 + 1/4

L.C.M. of the denominators, 2, 3, 4, and 5, is 60.

Multiplying both sides by 60, we obtain

60( x/2 - 1/5 ) = 60( x/3 + 1/4 )

⇒ 30x − 12 = 20x + 15 (Opening the brackets)

⇒ 30x − 20x = 15 + 12

⇒ 10x = 27

⇒ x = 27/10
