Let the cost of each bat be ‘a’ and each ball be ‘b’.
Given, coach of a cricket team buys 7 bats and 6 balls for Rs 3800.
Later,
He buys 3 bats and 5 balls for Rs 1750
⇒ 7a + 6b = 3800 ---- (1)
and 3a + 5b = 1750 ---- (2)
Multiplying eq1 by 3 and eq2 by 7 and subtracting eq2 from eq1.
⇒ 3(7a + 6b) - 7(3a + 5b) = 3(3800) - 7(1750)
⇒ 21a + 18b – 21a – 35b = 11400 – 12250
⇒ -17b = - 850
⇒ 17b = 850
⇒ b = 50
Putting this in eq 1, we get
7a + 6(50) = 3800
⇒ 7a + 300 = 3800
⇒ 7a = 3500
⇒ a = 500
Hence,
Each bat cost a = 500 Rupees and Each ball costs b = 50 Rupees.
