The length of the minute hand of a clock is 14 cm. Find the area swept by the minute hand in 5 minutes.

The length of minute hand = 14 cm 

Time = 5 minute 

Angle subtend by minute hand at center in 60 minute = 360°

In one minute = \(\frac{360}{60}\) = 60°

In five minute = 5 × 6 = 30° 

Area swept in 5 minute = \(\frac{θ}{360}πr^2\)

\(\frac{30}{360}\times\frac{22}7\times14\times14\) = \(\frac{154}3\)

= 51.30 cm2
