A steel rod 100cm long is clamped at its middle. The fundamental frequency of longitudinal vibrations of the rod are given to be 2.53kHz. What is the speed ‘ of sound in steel?

l = 1m, v = 2.53 × 103HZ, \(\frac{λ}{2}\) = I or λ = 2m

u = v λ = 2.53 × 103 × 2ms3-1 = 5.06 × 103 ms-1

= 5.06kms-1
