1. C)It is absorbed by KOH.

2. B) Drying of peel.

3. B)Limewater is created with calcium hydroxide, or Ca(OH) Named for the mineral, not the fruit, lime reacts with carbon dioxide in water to form calcium carbonate, which is white and does not dissolve in water, causing the water to turn cloudy. If the lime water is not fresh, it does not react with carbon dioxide and hence the white precipitate is not formed. Similarly, when we exhale we are removing carbon dioxide from our bodies, so breathing carbon dioxide into the lime water will produce the same reaction, though probably not as quickly due to the smaller amount of carbon dioxide in your breath.

So, the correct answer is B.

(1) It is absorbed by KOH.

Production of carbon dioxide gas during respiration can be studied experimentally. During germination, the seeds give out carbon dioxide as a byproduct of respiration. This carbon dioxide is then absorbed by the KOH solution. This creates vacuum in the conical flask. The air present in the delivery tube enters the conical flask. This pulls the water further up in the delivery tube. This results in the increase in the water level in the delivery tube.
Thus, the correct answer is 'It is absorbed by KOH.'

(2) (b) avoid drying of peel

It is a good dehydrating agent and prevents the specimen from drying out.
Due to its refractive nature, it tends to reflect the light better and as a consequence, the specimen can be clearly observed under the microscope.

(3) (b) White precipitate is not formed (c) Lime water must be fresh

Limewater is created with calcium hydroxide, or Ca(OH)2. Named for the mineral, not the fruit, lime reacts with carbon dioxide in water to form calcium carbonate, which is white and does not dissolve in water, causing the water to turn cloudy.

(4) (b) safranin

To prepare a temporary mount of leaf peel for observing stomata the chemicals used for staining and mounting respectively is safranin.
So, the correct answer is Safranin.

(5) (a) milky
