(c) 3, –1 

Let f(x) = x2 – 2x – 3= 0 

= x2 – 3x + x – 3= 0 

= x(x – 3) + 1(x – 3) = 0 

= (x – 3) (x + 1) = 0 

⇒ x = 3 or x = –1
