Best answer
Silica gel can absorb the moisture present in the air tight container and thus air present in the container is free from the moisture . Metals Na, K can react with air only when the reaction is initiated with moisture . Therefore, when metals are kept in an air tight container having silica gel, no reaction takes place since the air is absolutely dry.
