People wear cotton clothes to keep themselves cool in summer. Cotton fabric absorb sweat more due to greater ahesive forces between cotton and water and also allows the sweat to be evaporated at a faster rate. The sweat absorbs heat energy equal to the latent heat of vaporisation from the body and gets evaporated, thus, keeping the body cool.
