If the median of \(\frac{x}5\),\(\frac{x}4\),\(\frac{x}3\),x and \(\frac{x}3\),where x > 0, is 8, find the value of x.

Hint Arranging the observations in ascending order, we have  \(\frac{x}5\),\(\frac{x}4\),\(\frac{x}3\),\(\frac{x}2\),x Median = \(\frac{x}3\) = 8.

Arranging the observations in ascending order, we have

\(\frac{x}5\),\(\frac{x}4\),\(\frac{x}3\),\(\frac{x}2\),x

Thus the median is \(\frac{x}3\)

⇒ \(\frac{x}3\) = 8

⇒ x = 3×8

⇒ x = 24

Thus, the value of x is 24.
