The coordinates of point R that divides the line segment joining points P (x₁, y₁, z₁) 

and Q (x₂, y₂, z₂) in the ratio m: n are

Point A( 2, 1, -3 ) and B( 5, -8, 3 ), m and n are 2 and 1 respectively. 

Using the above formula, we get,

( 4,- 5, 1), is the point of trisection of the segment AB.
