Answer:

1. Answer: (b) 1/2

Explanation: A coin has two sides, Head and tails.

Hence, probability = Number of possible outcomes/Total number of outcomes

We know, Tail is present on one side of a coin and in total there could be two outcomes H&T

Hence, Probability = 1/2

2. Answer: (c) 1/2

Explanation: Total number of balls in bag = 4 + 4 = 8

Total number of green balls = 4

Probability of getting a green ball

= 4/8

= 1/2

3. Answer: (b) Pictograph

Explanation: The information presented through pictures or symbols of different objects is called the pictorial representation of data. The pictures of different objects are used to represent different information and thus such pictorial data are called pictographs.

4. Answer: (d) 60

Explanation: Total number of students

= 10 + 14 + 12 + 13 + 11

= 60

5. Answer: (c) 1/6

Explanation: Explanation: When a die is thrown,

Number of total possible outcomes = 6

Number of even prime numbers = 1 (2 is the only even prime number)

Thus, the probability of getting an even prime number,

P = 1/6

6. Answer: (d) 45

Explanation: \(Class\; mark = \frac{Lower\; limit + Upper\; limit}{2}\)

Given class interval is 40-50

⇒  Lower limit = 40 and upper limit = 50

Class mark = 40 + 50/2

 = 90/2

= 45

7. Answer: (c) 360º

Explanation: The total angle at the centre of the circle is 360º.

8. Answer: (b) 5/8

Explanation: Total no. of balls = 3+5 = 8

No. of red balls = 3

No. of black balls = 5

P(getting a red ball) = No of black balls / Total no of balls

= 5/8

9. Answer: (a) 1/3

Explanation: Probability

= 2/6

= 1/3

10. Answer: (a) 216

Explanation: Two dices are thrown together

For one dice the number of outcomes are 6 i.e 1,2,3,4,5,6

Similarly for the second and third dice the number of outcomes will be 6 and 6

Hence when all three dices are thrown together

The total number of outcomes

=(6×6×6)

= 216

11. Answer: (d) 5

Explanation: Friday tourist number = 60

Monday tourist number = 65

65 – 60

= 5.

12. Answer: (a) 39

Explanation: Mean = \(\frac{35+30+45+65+39+20}{6}\)

\(=\frac{234}{6}\)

= 39

13. Answer: (b) 25

Explanation: Mean = \(\frac{10+20+30+40}{4}\)

\(=\frac{100}{4}\)

= 25

14. Answer: (b) 15

Explanation: Range = 60 – 45

= 15.

15. Answer: (b) 4

Explanation: 4 has the highest frequency of 3. So 4 is the mode

Observation Frequency
3 2
5 1
7 1
4 3
2 1
1 1

16. Answer: (d) 3.5

Explanation: Arranging the terms in ascending order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7

Here No. of terms is 6 which is even

Thus, Median \(\frac{\frac{n}{2}^{th}\;term+(n+1)^{th}\;term}{2}\)

\(\frac{\frac{6^{th}}{2}\;term+(\frac{6}{2}+1)^{th}\;term}{2}\)

\(\frac{3^{rd}\;term+4^{th}\;term}{2}\)

\(\frac{3+4}{2}\)

= 7/2

= 3.5

17. Answer: (d) 500

Explanation: 600 – 100

= 500.

18. Answer: (c) 300

Explanation: 500 – 200

= 300.

19. Answer: (c) 220

Explanation: 160 + 60

= 220.

 20. Answer: (c) 6.83

Explanation: First 6 prime numbers are 2,3,5,7,11,13

Here, n=6

\(\Sigma X_i/n=\frac{(2+3+5+7+11+13)}{6}\)

= 41/6

= 6.83

Therefore, the mean of the first six prime numbers is 6.83

21. Answer: (a) primary data

Explanation:  Primary data is a type of data that is collected by researchers directly from main sources through interviews, surveys, experiments, etc. Primary data are usually collected from the source.

22. Answer: (b) 5.5

Explanation: Sum of first ten Natural numbers = \(\frac{n(n+1)}{2},\) where n = 10

\(=\frac{10(11)}{2}\)

= 55

Now  Mean of first ten Natural number = \(\frac{55}{10}\)

= 5.5

23. Answer: (d) Event

Explanation: An event is called one or more outcomes of an experiment.

Example: rolling a dice, we get a possible outcomes as {1,2,3,4,5,6}.

24. Answer: (c) 1

Explanation: The maximum probability an event can have is

\(=\frac{100}{100}\)

 = 1

25. Answer: (a) x+y = 13

Explanation: The mean of the 5 numbers 6,y,7,x,14 is 8.

Mean = \(\frac{number\;of\;observations}{total\;observation}\)

\(8=\frac{6+y+7+x+14}{5}\)

40 = 27+y+x

y+x = 13

y =13−x
