Difference between Monohybrid cross and Dihybrid cross:

No. Monohybrid cross Dihybrid cross
i. The cross between two pure parents differing in a single pair of contrasting character is called Monohybrid cross. The cross between two pure parents differing in two pairs of contrasting characters is called dihybrid cross.
ii. Phenotypic ratio is 3 : 1. Phenotypic ratio is 9 : 3 : 3 : 1.
iii. Genotypic ratio is 1 : 2 : 1. Genotypic ratio is 1 : 2 : 2 : 4 : 1 : 2 : 1 : 2 : 1.
iv. The law of segregation is explained by this cross. The law of independent assortment is explained by this cross.
