A neutral organic compound A of molecular formula `C_(2)H_(6)O` on heating with excess of conc. `H_(2)SO_(4)` gives compound B of molecular formula `C_(2)H_(4)`. Compound B on reduction gives compound C of molecular formula `C_(2)H_(6)`.
(a) Name A, B and C.
(b) Write chemical equation for the conversion of A to B.
(c) What is the role of conc `H_(2)SO_(4)` in the above equation.

(a) The compounds A, B and C are ethanol `(C_(2)H_(6)O)`, ethene `(C_(2)H_(4))` and ethane`(C_(2)H_(6))` respectively.
(b) For the chemical equation.
(c). Conc `H_(2)SO_(4)` is used as a dehydrating agent in the reaction.
