एक दर्पण के सामने -20 सेमी की दूरी पर रखी वस्तु का प्रतिबिम्ब दर्पण के उसी ओर (वास्तविक प्रतिबिम्ब ) 30 सेमी की दूरी पर बनता है। दर्पण की फोकस दूरी तथा प्रकृति जात कीजिए|

`because` अवतल दर्पण की वक्रता त्रिज्या R = -20 सेमी, `therefore` फोकस दूरी `f =(R)/(2) = (20)/(2) = - 10` सेमी
दर्पण से प्रतिबिम्ब की दूरी v = - 30 सेमी दर्पण से वस्तु की दूरी u = ?
गोलीय दर्पण के सूत्र `(1)/(f) = (1)/(v) +(1)/(u)`से
`(1)/(-10) = (1)/(-30) +(1)/(u)`
`therefore -(1)/(u) = (1)/(-30) - (1)/(-10) rArr (1)/(u) = (1)/(30) -(1)/(10) = (1-3)/(30) = (-2)/(30)`
` therefore " " u = - 15` सेमी
