A fuse is a circuit connection that will be destroyed by excessive current flow, creating an open circuit, to protect electrical appliances from receiving to high current. It is designed to be the weakest link in the circuit, which will fail before the other components are damaged.
The simplest fuses contain thin wire strips that melts when heated by excessive current flow. A fuse wire consists of low melting point and high resistivity and it is always connected in live wire.
