A compound is a word formed by combination of two or more words.
There are three forms of compound words:
i. The closed form
In this form, the word is written as one single word.
Examples: mouthpiece, daydreaming
ii. The hyphenated form
In this, the word is joined by a hyphen.
Examples: aural-oral, ice-cold
iii. The open form
In this, the words are written as separate words.
Examples: smart card, junk food
