a. 29Cu — 1s2 , 2s2 , 2p6 , 3s2 , 3p6 , 3d10 , 4s1 

Cu2+ — 1s2 , 2s2 , 2p6 , 3s2 , 3p6 , 3d9 

b. Yes. One electron can be lost from 4s sub shell and can’exist as Cu ion, It is a d block element.

c. Copper react with chlorine to form two compounds Cu+ , Cu2+  ions react with chlorine to form CuCl and CuCl2 respectively.
