The bleaching action of H2O2 is due to labile oxygen which it releases on decomposition. H2O2→H2O+[O] The nascent oxygen combines with coloured material and makes it colourless. It can bleach feather, silk, wool, ivory, etc. It can also bleach paper, oils and fats.
