The Pigment leghaemoglobin is either located in the space between bacteriods and the membrane enclosing them or it is present outside the membrane in the host cytoplasm. The leghaemoglobin combines with `O_(2)` and gets oxidised into brown form. It creates ideal condition for the activity of enzyme nitrogenase.
