cos B \(=\frac{10^2+12^2-b^2}{2\times10\times12}\)

cos 52° \(=\frac{100+144-b^2}{240}\) (∵ ∠B = 52°)

⇒ b2 = 244 - 240 cos 52°

= 244 - 240 x 0.6157

= 244 - 147.76

= 96.24

⇒ b \(=\sqrt{96.24}\) = 9.81 cm
