In the polynomial p(x) = 3x2 – ax + 1,

Find ‘a’ satisfying p(1) = 2.

p(x) = 3x2 – ax + 1

p(1) = 3(1)2 – (a × 1) + 1 = 3 – a + 1 = 4 – a

Given p(1) = 2

That is, 4 – a = 2 , a = 4 – 2 = 2
