(i) X + X. Y = X

L.H.S = X + X.Y

         = X.1 + X.Y

        = X(1 + Y)

       = X.1

      = X = R.H.S

(ii) X + X'.Y = X + Y

L.H.S = X + X'.Y

         = (X + X').(X + Y)

        = 1.(X + Y)

       = X + Y = R.H.S
