A body of mass 50g is moving with a velocity of 10 ms-1. It is brought to rest by a resistive force of 10 N. find:

(i) the retardation and

(ii) the distance that the body will travel after the resistive force is applied.

Mass of body = 50 g = 0.050 kg

Initial velocity, u = 10 m/s

Final velocity, v = 0 m/s

Resistive force, F = 10 N
