The color of the scattered light depends on the size of the scattering particles. Very fine particles having size less than the wavelength of visible light mainly scatter blue light of a shorter wavelength of the visible spectrum. The particles of relatively larger size scatter light of longer wavelength this. The large particles such as raindrops, dust and ice particles scatter white light.
