In cubic closest packing ther are three alternating hexagonal layers `A,B`and `C` offset form one another so that the sphere in one layer sit in the small triangular depressions of neighboring layers.
Note that the `A-B` layers are identical to those in the hexagonal closest packed arrangement , but the third layer is offset form both `A` and `B` layers.
