The ionization constant of dimethyl amine is 5.4 x 10-4. Calculate its degree of ionization in its 0.02 M solution. What percentage of dimethyl amine is ionized if the solution is also 0.1 Min NaOH.

In presence of NaOH, the dissociation of diethyl amine will decrease due to common ion effect. Thus 0.1+cα= 0.1 and 1-  α = I
