It was observed by a team of research workers the population of fish eating birds is declining gradually year after year after the nearby establishment of a pesticide producing factory a few years ago. 

Answer the following on the basis of above information. 

(i) What may be the possible cause of the declining population of the fish eating birds, in your opinion? 

(ii) What may be the alternative to the pesticide?

(i) The pesticides enter the fish through food chain and slow biomagnification. The birds which eat such fish accumulate the increasing amount of pesticides in bodies which is toxic and as such result in the death of the such fish eating birds. 

(ii) Biocontrolling agent should be searched out to remove the pests.
