Assertion is true but the reason is false Electrode potneial of `Cu^(2+)//CU` is +0.34V and Electrode potential of `2H^(+)//H_(2)` is 0.00V.
Hence, correct reason is due to positive value of `Cu^(2+) //Cu` it looses electron to `H^(+)` and get reduces, while `H_(2)` gas evolves out.
