The reactivity of halogens with alkane is `F_2 gt Cl_2 gt Br_2 gt I_2` . Hence , reduction of alkylhalide with Zn and dilute HCl follows reverse order, i.e.
R-IgtR-BrgtR-Cl. Further, the reactivity of this reduction increases as the strength of C-X bond decreases.
