Correct option is: (B) 39π

Area of bigger circle is R = AC = 8 cm.

and area of smaller circle is r = AC-AB 

= 8-3 = 5 cm.

\(\therefore\) Area of shaded region = Area of bigger circle - Area of smaller circle.

\(\pi R^2 - \pi r^2 = \pi (R^2 -r^2)\)

\((8^2-5^2) \pi = (64-25) \pi = 39 \pi \, cm^2\).
