Correct option is: (C) 4.8 cm

\(\because\) PD is tangent to circle and PAB is secant.

\(\therefore \, PA.PB = PD^2\)

= \(5 (5 + x) = 7^2 = 49\).

= \(5 + x = \frac {49} 5 = 9.8\)

= x = 9.8 -5 = 4.8 cm.
