Find the equation of tangents to the curve y = x3 + 2x - 4 which are perpendicular to the line x + 14y - 3 = 0.

Given, equation of curve is

y = x3 + 2x - 4

On differentiating both sides w.r.t. x, we get

dy/dx = 3x2 + 2

. .. The slope of required tangent is

= - 8 - 4 - 4 

= -16 

Points of contactare (2, 8) and(-2,-16). 

Now, equation of tangent at point (2, 8) is
