A manufacturer can sell x items at a price of Rs(5 - x/100) each. The cost price of x items is Rs (x/5 + 500). Find the number of items he should sell to reach maximum profit.

Given that manufacturer sells x items at a price of Rs (5 - x/100) each.

.'. Total revenue obtained

Let P(x) be the profit function.

We know that, 

Profit = Revenue - cost

Hence, number of items sold to have maximum profit is 240.
