Chemical nature:
Phospholipids are amphiphilic in nature. As they have hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail.
Structure:
It contains an alcohol, two fatty acid chains and a phosphate group.
Role:
Phospholipids forms the membranes around the cells and cellular organelles. They form a lipid bilayer membrane. The phospholipids are arranged tail to tail. It serves as a barrier against movement of any ions or polar compounds into and out of the cell.
