(b) 1. The whole body of a sperm is enveloped by plasma membrane.
2. Sperm consists of four parts : head, neck, middle piece and a tail.
3. Head: It consists of an elongated haploid nucleus. The anterior portion is covered by a cap like structure called acrosome. The acrosome is filled with enzymes that help in dissolving the membranes of egg during fertilization of the ovum.
4. Neck : It consists of proximal and distal centriole. Proximal centriole is necessary for the first cleavage division of zygote. Distal centriole function as basal body for the tail filament.
