Assertion (A) : The distrust between Sinhalese and Tamil communities turned into widespread conflict in Sri Lanka.

Reasoning (R) :  1956 Act recognized Sinhala as the only official language.

(a) Both Assertion (A) and Reasoning (R) are true and Reasoning (R) is the correct explanation of Assertion (A).

Answer is : (a) Both Assertion (A) and Reasoning (R) are true and Reasoning (R) is the correct explanation of Assertion (A).
