The critical temperature (Tc) and critical pressure (Pc) of CO2 are 30.98°C and 73 atm respectively. Can CO2 (g) be liquefied at 32°C and 80 atm pressure? Give reason.

Given, 

Critical temperature (Tc) of CO2 = 30.98˚C 

Critical pressure (Pc) of CO2 = 73 atm 

As we know that a gas can not be liquefied above critical temperature and critical pressure. Hence, CO2(g) can not be liquefied at 32˚C and 80 atm pressure.
