(i) Calcium carbide reacts with water to form acetylene which on passing through red hot iron tube at 873K undergoes cyclic polymerisation to form benzene.

(ii) Benzene reacts with three chlorine molecules in the presence of UV light to form benzene hexachloride.

(iii) Propene reacts with HBr in the presence of peroxide to give 1-bromopropane. This reaction is called Anti-Markovnikov’s rule.
