Anne frank, during her stay in the secret annexe grew an intense liking towards one of the residents-Peter van Daan. At first, she thought him to be an obnoxious, lazy and hypersensitive boy but later both of them became close friends. Anne always wanted that he should express his love for her but he failed to express his love openly. Even then Anne felt intense pleasure in his presence. She wondered whether her parents would approve of such relationship with Peter. She was sceptical about sharing it with her father. Finally, she took Peter's consent and told about her relationship with Peter to her father. At first Otto Frank didn't object to their relationship but one day he told her not to meet him frequently. He said that Peter didn't have much strength of character. He could easily be influenced to do good as well as bad. So he advised her not to take him seriously. He had a talk with Peter also who assured him that they would keep themselves under control. Later, Mr. Frank realized that Anne was still meeting Frank. He was unhappy at this but Anne had a row with him. She told him through her letter that she was independent enough to take her own decisions. Mr. Frank felt hurt after reading the contents of the letter but he forgave her. Anne felt ashamed of herself and promised to behave well in the near future.
