Angle OAP =90 degree,A being point of contact Of the tangent AP

Hence by Pythagoras theorem

OP2=AP2+OA2

=>(x+1)2=(x-1)2 +x2

=>4x =x2

=>x=4

Hence x-1=3 and x+1=5
